Mothers Day Giveaway

This is one of the items I ordered from the Breast Cancer site to giveaway to someone you care about. It is called the 'Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Friends,' bracelet and it has a faux pink leather ribbon woven through it.

The charm has the above on one side and the celebration of courage on the other. I thought it was beautiful and you can give to anyone you know who is strong. It doesn't just have to be for a cancer survivor.

I thought the toggle lock was a cute idea as well.

This second piece is a sectioned heart that closed is a beautiful silver heart and opened, it lets mom know you love her. It comes on its own chain.
Both of these will go to some lucky person and the winners of this contest will be drawn on what else? Mothers Day, May 10 at noon PST. I just ordered these yesterday, so I do not know when they will come in, but I am hoping they will be here to send out the day after Mothers Day.
This is open to everyone male and female, United States and military familiers where I can send these to an A.P.O. or F.P.O. address.
Contest Rules:
1- Leave a comment about your best memory or funny story of mom when you were a child and automatically be entered.
2-Link to this on your blog, twitter or post it on facebook and send me the link and you receive 10 additional entries.
3-If someone tells me they came via your blog, you get another 10 entries and they will receive an extra 5.
4-This is open to previous winners.
Good Luck!

I love both prizes...mothers day is always bittersweet to me, because I lost my mom to breast cancer in 2000..She was only 56 and of course, life hasnt been the same without her...She was pretty fun and a goofball to boot..I would be hard pressed to come up with just one story that was funny...We would laugh so hard that I would beg her to stop....I guess the funniest one would be that when I was a kid she had a cat that was spoiled rotten and she named him "little puss"..well one day the dog scared him and he did his drama act and she thought he had a seizure so I held him and we raced in the car to the vets...She was hysterical, the cat was hysterical and so was I....We got to the vets and the cat started foaming at the mouth...probably because he remembered losing his masculinity there...Well I had just watched Old Yeller and threw the cat at the vet screaming, "rabies, he's got rabies"..After telling me to calm down he asked my mom the cats name while she was standing there cring her eyes out and she told the vet his name was "little piss!" the vet thought we both were nutballs and we laughed about this story for years......

I remember when I was about twelve I had to have my appendix removed. It was about two weeks later that we went in to get my stitches removed.
Well, there was nothing to it. The doctor made quick work of removing the stitches and then asked me to hop up so my mom could lay down. She was just starting to slide down the wall.

Your prizes are wonderful! My mom always made us new Easter dresses. I remember her probably only getting a couple hours of sleep (if even that) every Easter just so us 4 girls would have a new dress to wear.

Now, I just thought of a funny story. My mom got her Masters Degree about 20 years ago. I think all 6 of us kids went to San Antonia, Texas and when we were at the BBQ after the graduation for some reason we were talking about how nice the plastic ware was or was it silver ware???? Anyway, my mom starts putting it in the sleeves of her gradustion gown. It was so funny and so unlike my mom to take anything. I don't remember all the details it was just so funny to see my mom with silverware stuffed up her sleeves! My mom is amazing!

These are so pretty. My mom was very fun when I was little and kind of a prankster. I was convinced that she actually would EAT the mud pies that I made. Somehow she would distract me and then throw them over the side of the deck. Very tricky!

I was the oldest child, around 10. I can remember one night I woke up. My brother and sister and Dad were still asleep. My Mom had just gotten home from a long day of work. I told her I was hungry. She asked what I wanted. I told her fried okra. Not only did she fix it, she also set there and talked with me for about an hour, until I got sleepy again.

My mom is a wonderful person, she has always taken of everyone. When my grandma had breast cancer she was the one that took her to all of her chemo and radiation treatments and she also brought her to live with her and dad. My mom is one of 8 kids and they did not offer to help do anything. She took care of her to the end when all my grandmom could do was lay in the bed like a baby. She did the same for my grandpa after he had a stroke, she is so amazing!

My favorite memory of my mom is when I was a cheerleader. We won city and advanced to Nationals, which was across the U.S. We had to fundraise to get the $$ to go. So, my mother (and best friend's mother) literally stood on street corners with giant poster boards. When traffic lights would turn red, we would run up and down and scrounge ashtray $$. LOL! Not glamourous, but we earned enough to send both of us across the country. LOVE YOU MOM!

Both prizes are fantastic.. I would be so honored to own either one of them :)
My story about my mom is sort of funny. My mom was and still isn't a very good cook. One day mom was making us grilled cheese sandwiches. I bit in to mine and I could not bite through the sandwich.. I could not figure out what was wrong.. well mom had purchased those new cheeses with the little clear wraps on them.(this was when they first came out.. so many years ago) I don't think she knew she had to remove them... So there we were with these grill cheese sandwiches that had the plastic melted in to them.. it is really funny now that you think about it when your older. How could mom .. do such a silly thing??? My mom was the blondest woman around and still is ;)

These are so cute. So funny story about my mom, when I was a kid I passed out in the bathroom when she was changing my bandaid. She thought I was faking and was yelling at me to get up until she realized I really had passed out and fallen on the floor. Then she felt so bad she cried and told me not to tell Grandma. Hahaha! I'd love to give her one of these for Mother's Day, what a treat.

I remember my mom teaching me how to do a cart wheel and now I look back and appreciate having a young mom as she showed me how to do it first and then I followed her suit. She was so much fun!

It's hard to pick the best memory, but one of my favorite memories is how she provided fun stuff for to do even when she didn't have the money to buy anything. She was a single mom and money was often tight so she had to make me glue and play dough from scratch whenever I wanted to do arts and crafts.

My best memories are going cherry picking with my mom, and sister. We'd stuff our faces with cherries and our faces would be stained purple. We have some great pictures of that. I think we ate more than we picked, But then we'd all be sick from eating so many.

What a generous giveaway! Thanks!

My usually prim and proper mother was sitting down to dinner with us (her four children) and one of my girlfriends. My father was out-of-town at the time. One of my brothers was being especially grumpy, which was beginning to bug my sweet mum. Whenever she asked him if he wanted this or that, he would grunt out a crabby reply.

After dinner mom served us all some strawberry shortcake for dessert. When she asked my brother if he wanted whipped cream on his, he gave her is grumpy yes reply. I could see something change in her face and there was a distinct twinkle in her eye as she picked up the can of whipped cream and shot it right at him. He jumped up, grabbed the other can off the counter and he chased her around the dining room.

In the end ALL of us were rolling on the floor laughing and ALL of us were covered in whipped cream. I think my girlfriend was in shock for weeks - she never would have dreamed she'd see a scene like that in our house - at least not one my mother instigated.

Memories of my mom are ongoing since she is still with us at 86. I don't have a specific memory so much as memories of a lifestyle of courage and giving. She is so unselfish,so brave. I think that her courage when we lost my dad almost 13 years ago is what gave me the courage to fight my breast cancer the following year. She is always there for me - to listen, to encourage me, to love our family. Her faith is an inspiration and a gift to all who know her.

Thanks for the opportunity to share her and Happy Mother's Day.

Probably my favorite time with my mother has been right now. I just had my first baby and she has been such a support to me. It's true after you have a baby you & your mother really have that bond and can relate on a whole new level. It's awesome!

I remember my Mom baking pies with us every Christmas, one year we forgot to put the yeaste in and the dough didnt rise so we had to go out and buy pies to send to relatives and pass them off as our own, it was pretty funny. We kept getting compliments on how "improved" they were from previous years. LOL

I always loved getting sick as a kid, no not because I got to miss school, but because my mom took such good care of me. She held my hair back when I had to throw up, she rubbed my back and made me soup. I will never forget her tender love and care towards me during those times. Even now, when I am sick, i always call her and she comforts me over the phone. And having children has made me truly understand the love that she felt for me, because I feel the same for my own children.

My funniest story is years ago my dad sold cars and bought home a corvette! My mom had always wanted to drive one of them so we decided to go to the store and look cool..Well~I didn't know it at the time but she had no clue how to drive a stick shift!! We jumped and choked to the end of the alley and then I had to get out and go back to get my dad to bring the car home~as she had no idea where reverse was either:)

We still laugh about that one!
