Operation Blanket Japan - Queen Quilt

If any of you have been following my blog or the Quilters Newsletter blog, you will know that while they are receiving hundreds if not thousands of quilts, many or most of them are for babies and toddlers and they have asked if anyone could please send larger quilts, so I made this one.

This sits on my bed right now which is a queen sized bed and it goes over on both sides. It was so easy to make and I just know lots of you have fat quarters lying around in your stashes, this one took 16 of them and
I was glad to just zip them together in less than an hour and a half.

You could make one with 12 or even eight fat quarters and still have it bigger than one for a baby.

I am going to place 2 layers of Warm and Natural batting in this one since I know it is so cold in Japan and then place either a heavy Navy blue jersey back on it or a red floral back...depends on how much I have of each fabric.

Here is another view of it, a bit mor
e up close and you can see how they all just fit nicely together. I have so much fabric and so many ideas for it and really no time, so I figured this would be a great help to someone.

I will put it together as a pillow quilt and then sew around the edges and have my grands help me knot it! It is a great way for them to feel they are helping people so far away that have such a great need!

Jesus would want us to reach out to those less fortunate than we are. By doing so, I believe that He will take care of us when we have a need.

Blessings!

Great job!! And a fun way to use fat quarters. I still have your parcel to send...we've been in the process of seeling our home and I've been swamped. Hopefully I'll get it in the mail in the next week. Hugs
