Wow! Just a reminder, no one wants to wear our nasty, stained, skanky underwear, I don't care how desperate they are. I just don't get it! This is a picture of a warehouse in Tuscaloosa, Alabama that was printed along with an article by Jay Reeves of the Associated Press and appeared on Yahoo news today, 5/15/2011 at 1227 EST.

It talks about how people are basically sending stuff that needs to go to the junkyard or in the trash to the tornado victims: broken toys, used underwear, dirty stuffed animals, ripped clothing, etc. They have no place to store the necessities they are getting because of all the trash people are sending.
Really? People would rather send garbage and crap to people that have nothing left other than garbage and crap and pay postage on this stuff instead of placing it where it belongs in a junk pile? How sad! How sad to think people would think someone who has gone through such tragic times would welcome your crusty old undies!
If you are going to send something, go to your dentists office and see if they will donate toothbrushes and floss, your local owned department or clothing store and see if they will donate under wears, socks, etc. There are still a few of those smaller shops around and many will donate during the year.
Go to WalMart and Target and spend $10 on travel toiletries, hand sanitizer, bug spray, rubber gloves, bandages and place them in a small box and mail them off. How about a box of batteries, flashlights, combs and brushes?
Some people believe these people need to be happy with anything. I disagree, I believe God would want us to donate the best to these people and I hope someday if I ever need help, I will be blessed with nice things...they don't have to be new, just clean and decent.

Such a good post. Not only do they not need our junk, but, they must pay to throw it away, and they are throwing away so much else their landfills will be overflowing. It is difficult for the organizations that are mostly non-profit to handle all that junk. Please send things that are in serviceable condition. If you would not wear it yourself don't expect that anyone else would either.
I agree with you and the others, I live by the golden rule treat others as you would like to be treated, and the same goes for charity.sometimes all we have to do is put their shoe on our foot.
