An Eggsperiment

After school today, the scientist in the family decides she wants to do this naked egg experiment where you place several eggs into a bowl (do not let them touch) & cover them with white vinegar for the next 24 hours.

I can't say my kitchen smells very well right now, but the eggs are sitting amongst the bubbles in their bowl.

Since vinegar is acetic acid and the egg shells are calcium carbonate, it causes (all you smart people guessed it), carbon dioxide which accounts for the bubbles.

I have to give the girl credit, she is now sitting at the kitchen table writing the experiment out under day 1 for her classmates. I will show pictures at the end!
