A Quilting Loss

'A gentle but brilliant light has gone out of the quilting world. Martha B. Skelton died in Vicksburg, MS on Tuesday, Nov. 4th. Martha was named as one of the top 20 quilters in the United States by the American Quilting Society. She made her quilts entirely by hand whether it was piecing, flawless applique or intricate quilting, completing more than 200 quilts since she started quilting at age 15. She was a wonderful teacher, always sharing her knowledge and love of quilting with everyone who was interested. She was the featured quilter at the 'Smithsonian Festival of American Folk Art' in both 1974 and 1997. Her quilts have been on display in not only the Smithsonian but also at the 'Museum of American Folk Art' in New York and as part of a traveling exhibition sponsored by Family Circle. '

Martha was loved by everyone that knew her and will be greatly missed.'

I received this information from the Stitch-n-Frame shop and thought I would pass this on.
