A Very Special Pillow, For A Special Little Girl

This pillow was a true labor of love for my granddaughter Sarah. I decided since she isn't a girlie girl at this time in her life, but a Tomboy who is currently playing basketball that I would make her a pillow using a combination of scrap fabrics with purples and blues in them.

Hmmm, what to do with the basketball? The oldest grand said make it orange like a real basketball. Gee, now why didn't I think of that? So, I used a pencil and drew my idea of a basketball on the front and used a close zigzag stitch and I was shocked, it actually looks like a basketball. Go figure!

The picture here to the right shows the outside border of the pillow and you can see I used a decorative stitch in orange to outline the center of the pillow.

Of course, I used only fabric, thread and batting that I already had in my stash and I really think if we get to see her next week-end, she and her sister will like the pillows.

The back is a really super soft purple fleece with horses and I am hoping since I am just getting to know her again that she likes horses.

If you know of or have a special little girl and you would like to order a pillow or lap quilt for her, please contact me and I will let you know what I can do.

In the meantime, I have used up some of the stash of fabric around the house and am getting ready to send off my selveges to Melinda...do you hear me Melinda? HAHA!
