I have a pattern I would like to place on the border of my DIL's quilt. It is on paper and I need to get it on the quilt to hand sew it. How do I do this? I am open to suggestions that will work. I have tried the plastic canvas tracing and it doesn't seem to work well at all.

I usually use a printout glued to cereal box weight cardboard, but have you tried tracing carbon paper? My kids have brought home a few sheets from their middle school home-ec assignments so it still exists somewhere.
Depending on the color of the fabric (if its too dark this probably won't work) you may be able to use a light box. If you have any glass tables you can put a lamp underneath to create one or you can use a window on a bright day also. Put the design on the glass surface and then the fabric. Turn the light on and the design should shine through.
Hope someone has a good pointer for you, I don't hand quilt. So far, I'm a stippler, or a straight line girl.

I love the idea of carbon paper, just would be worried it might wear off on the fabric & the light box idea would work. Then, I found out there are templates you an buy for this...go figure! Thanks for the great ideas!
