Right After

Right after I posted the last comments last night I was watching an Oprah episode where she and Lisa Ling were interviewing convent nuns and the amazing thing to me was how happy these women were and how young.

While many of us thing how could they turn their backs on life, I saw in them a peace of not having to worry about possessions, cleaning them, buying them, finding a place to put them and not cluttering their lives with 'STUFF!'

No, I am not going to rush out and join a convent, but I wondered in some small way if God wasn't talking to my heart through these women and telling me that my quest recently to get rid of so much extra 'stuff,' in my life wasn't at least a very small step in the right direction!

Everywhere I look, I have clutter & it simply is driving me crazy...to much clutter keeps us from really focusing on what God wants us to do in life. Yesterday, I wasn't feeling well, my head was pounding and everyone at work kept asking me if I was mad. Funny, my headache had begun to clutter their thoughts....

Perhaps living with less stuff is what I need to be doing and less clutter in my brain...have a great day and enjoy!

Hi Jean, I read your posts from Monday & Tuesday and I can say I know what you are feeling. I lost both my parents within 2 years and a very dear friend in that time also. I have read and reread what you said about clutter and I also feel that in my life. Maybe that is a sign from someone trying to help me. Thanks for sharing. Patty

When I moved into my tiny 700 sg ft place I am in now I had to purge. Moving from a huge four bedroom to a compact two bedroom was hard. I gave away enough furniture/kitchenware/towels/wall hangings to furnish my daughters new place. I'm still downsizing after two years. It's tough not wanting to let go of things, but after time you realize what the really important things are.I'm down to 1/3 of the things I use to own. Eventually it will all fall into place.

You are so right--and I am so guilty of having way too much "stuff" cluttering my house--I am hopeless...I just love my "stuff". I de-cluttered 3 years ago, but have cluttered up again--but not as much. My life is not nearly as cluttered as my house!

I have been following your blog for a few days now, and I enjoy reading what you have to say.

It sounds like you have certainly had your share of "valleys" during the past year or so. I mourned for Captain Phil and his boys, too. I've watched him for 3 years now, and they "seemed like family". I will surely miss Capt. Phil.

Wishing you many carefree, clutter free days ahead! (Kathy)

I just read a NYTs article online that questions "Are You Really Happy?" in re the ownership of so much stuff. One lady only owns 100 items after reading about a movement to do just that online. I, too, am under a constant burden caused by the things I own. I'm taking your post as a sign that I need to take action, Jackson!

I am so humbled that everyone seems to think this posting is a sign! But it isn't from me, then you know that!
