A Day of Scouting For Others

Last week we walked with another Wolf scout and covered several miles of our city with fliers letting everyone know we would be out today collecting canned food for our community.

Sadly it was no surprise to me when our Lone Wolf, myself and his sister who is a great Girl Scout showed up as the only boy from our den.

We were very happy to have a Boy Scout and another parent join us to help us cover our area. The first dri
ve through was so disappointing, no food anywhere to be set out for pick up so we went door to door through the area asking for donations.

The weather was very uncooperative, it was ice cold rain coming at us hard and side ways, strong winds and it was freezing cold.

In spite of the weather, the 3 scouts, rarely complained and just kept on knocking on doors. Around 12:30, they had had enough so we contacted the drop off point and let them know we were on our way. We had at least 8 bags of canned food or more.

When it was all said and done, the pack had collected close to 2400 pounds of food today and took it to the local food bank and unloaded it so it could be put away. You can see in these photos, the boys still had smiles to share and at the end of the day, they were excited they had been able to help so many people!
