The Face of Domestic Violence...Give What You Can

This is one of many faces of domestic violence. This woman had a job, she had 3 children and she had a boyfriend with a gun, who shot her not once, not twice, but 5 times just over a month ago in front of his three children.

Her name, is Rebecca Dietz! She was on her way to a miraculous recovery and was released from the hospital just a bit over a month after being shot. Here is the news coverage:

ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) - An Aberdeen, Wash., woman shot multiple times in early May has died.
Aberdeen police and relatives of 28-year-old Rebbecca Dietz say she died Thursday after being rushed to Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

The Daily World says Dietz suffered at least five gunshot wounds to her head, neck and shoulders in the May 3 attack.
Police arrested 39-year-old Charles E. Jefferson, who was subsequently charged with assault. Jefferson is the father of Dietz's three children, ages 3 to 7.

Investigators say the 7-year-old girl witnessed the shooting as the woman was pulled outside her apartment and shot with a .22-caliber pistol. She was initially treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Our church family has stepped up and taken her children in, they stay with a couple from our church during the week, a teacher where they attend school picks them up and takes them to school each day, another family takes them in for the week-end and they come to our home to play during this time, ride bikes and be children. They are happy one minute and sad the next.

I do not understand how or why people do what they do. Last evening in Seattle, a man got into a pursuit and tossed his child out of the car while he was driving. I was a dispatcher on a case when a man not only killed his wife but did unspeakable things to the body. I just don't get it!

I can't imagine what they must be going through, but I do know our church has rallied around them to help where we all can. If you would like to send something to help the children, any amount will help, please contact Pastor Lois Cotton at Harbor City Church in Aberdeen any of the following ways:
