First 5K Run

Heading Out For Her First 5K

This is our granddaughter who has been affectionately known as Diva Girl since she was about 6 or 7 (note the bowed headband she is never without out) packed and heading out to Portland with friends to be in her first 5K run ever.

At 11 years old, this young lady plays piano and will have the solo Trombone spot in the fall concert her first year of band. Her Papa affectionately calls her 'Gunz,' because if he needs help with lifting of holding something, this girl can do it.

Extremely disappointed that she couldn't be on her schools cross country team this year, she didn't let that keep her from running and her Girl Scout leader is a runner and says she can keep up with her, so invited her to the run.

I can't wait to see the pictures they take, hear of all the fun things they did and how the race went and if she wants to do another one.
Of course she will, because her goal someday is to become a fire fighter, but not a medical one she tells us, I don't like needles!

So today when you say a prayer, say a prayer she does well, has no cramps and has a ball!  She is my inspiration to keep going and someday I will be able to at least walk a 5K behind her!
