A Thank You Quilt

This quilt has taken much longer than I expected it to, thanks to the wonderful respiratory bug that grabbed me with all it had and is still refusing to let go!  But it is boxed up and heading to its new owner today.

I actually got away in January of this year for 4.5 days and flew into Phoenix for a friends daughters wedding.  It was an amazing time and an old co-worker said I could stay with him and his girlfriend while I was in town.

From the moment I met Katrina, it was easy to see we would be friends and talk about gracious host and hostess, they waited up for me the first night, they had a spare bedroom made up with a bed almost as comfy as home and a bathroom that was fully stocked with anything I might need.

I got up in the morning, and they were up and asked me what I would like for coffee and quickly made me a cup or deliciousness and loaned me their travel mug as I had to be somewhere that morning.

One thing I learned we both had in common is a voraciousness for reading, we both love to read and she would curl up on their couch and read while Michael and I would talk.  It was during one of these times I found out, she loves quilts and the color blue.

We spent Saturday evening going to dinner and she showed me where I could purchase Cafe du monde, Beignet mix,(which if you haven't had these amazingly light and airy heavenly donuty treat, you don't know what you are missing) now, how many people would I run into in Phoenix that knew about these?

Sunday, was the wedding and I had church and then off to have lunch with a friend, however, it turned out my son had some issues regarding his taxes and by the time we were done...I had to get to a wedding.

Now, showing up a wedding in dress jeans and heels would be great. However, all I had on was a Seahawks sweat shirt, but Katrina and Michael came to the rescue, grabbed my blouse for the wedding and delivered it in time for me to change.

It was then I knew I would be coming home and making her a special thank you.

The back is fleece and there is batting in between the layers. I know she will love it, just as I love her as a the wonderful person she is!

So pretty and I'm sure the recipient will love it. Sounds like the hospitality of good friends really made your visit a good experience.
