Destashing Heebie Jeebies

I managed to get 2 packages mailed off to the winners of some of my recycled/upcycled or destashed fabric and that added up to almost 4 pounds of fabric that I am now a little lighter on.
I am working on a red and white scrappy back quilt and that is driving me nuts as I can't find enough red and white fabric in my stash to cover the entire back, so I am moving things around to see if I can get it completed.

I am still clinging onto a bunch of selvedges...does anyone really use those? I have no idea why I even began collecting them. Maybe I can make a pillow or something with them. I have some bits and pieces of flannel and fleece and think I will make my granddaughters each pillows.

I was a good girl Saturday as I drove past one of my favorite quilt stores going to and coming back from visiting my granddaughters and I fought off the urge to just stop by. I also went into another local shop today to ask some questions and passed by the luscious lime green fabric I want so much.

No, destashing is probably a very good idea for me and I have some really adorable quilts that I have fabric waiting to be used just for them!

I never understood the need for selveges either. There is a selvege blog, where people make ONLY stuff out of selvege. who knew??

In the past I have used selvages to turn a tube. You sew it in at the top and then sew down the side of your tube without catching it. Then you pull and it turns the tube right side out. I am sure there are some other uses for them but that is the first that came to me.

Okay, I give in...I found numerous web-sites for selvage products and if I do not complete at least one by May 2010, they are all yours Melinda & that is a promise!
