My grandson took this picture of me this morning fixing them all banana chocolate chip muffins and they were gone in a flash!

They are healthy and with the chocolate chips , the kids didn't even notice. They contain 191 calories & 6 grams of fat and one muffin is 5 points on the points plus weight watchers plan...but they are very filling.

The recipe comes from Taste Of Home Comfort Food Diet Cookbook, page 45 is from Lauren Heyn.

3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup wheat bran (I used oat bran)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup fat-free milk (I use low fat)
2 -3 small ripe bananas
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce, I used one of those lunch applesauce containers, 1/3 cup exactly
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
1/3 cup pecans (optional)

In a large bowl, combine the first 7 ingredients. In another bowl, combine the eggs, milk. Stir in the bananas, applesauce and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients until moist. Stir in chocolate chips.

Coat muffin cups with cooking spray or use paper liners. Fill 3/4 full of batter. Sprinkle batter with pecans, bake at 375 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool on wire rack and serve.

We didn't add jelly or butter, they were perfect and the kids asked for more!

It has been fun having the girls here for a visit and seeing how happy and relaxed they are in our home since we hadn't seen them in years!

Those sound scrumptious. What fun to be making them with your grandkids.
