Merry Christmas and Reminiscing 2013

Merry Christmas from our family to yours, wherever you are. This is my wonderful hubby and the grands as we were leaving last Friday to the girls Christmas concert at school.

I am so proud of all of them!

The picture below is with Diva girl, Brother Bear and myself as we returned from our annual Christmas tree cutting and while she has Holly, she is convinced it is Mistletoe so we did what any couple in love would do, we kissed to make her happy!

I want to take a minute here to highlight some of 2013 in our life as I have a quilt to finish for my grandson for Christmas and Diva girl has surgery soon for removing her tonsils!

I am thankful and yet sad, that we had to leave our adorable Purple Craftsman that we had worked for almost 7 years to fix up...with my health and the inability to go up and down stairs and some other things out of our control, we put it up for sale and moved out to country an hour away.

The move to the country has been the best move ever. For the first time in my life, I am settled and happy and don't feel the need to move again. I can move around without stairs and hubby has been working to make the deck and railings more user friendly for me.

As much as I hate to admit it, we are talking about getting one of those wearable alarms for me since I have began falling again and we are both concerned that I could fall outside and not be able to get back up and not be able to get help since I do NOT carry my cell phone with me all the time!

I began Layers of Hope - Quilting 911 during the Granite Mountain Hotshot loss and have seen it grow with so many quilters reaching out that we will soon become a non-profit and I hope it continues to grow!

I am thankful my husband has a job!

I am sad I am losing more of my hearing it seems daily!

I am happy we found a wonderful pediatrics office and a nutritionist and all of the kids have lost weight and exercise and play more now than ever...so proud of them for this!

Diva girl picked up the Trombone this year for band, is in her 4th year of piano and taught herself the Ukele, Recorder and guitar!

Oldest is now 1st chair Clarinet and played Basketball for her school!

Our grandson is just hanging out right now and not wanting to participate in contact sports, but seems to be leaning towards golf and who knows if he will pick up an instrument next year or not...we hope so!

Diva girl did her first 5K this year in Portland and ran in just over 41 minutes. Then she talked the rest of us to joining her at a Turkey Trot where she finished at 35 minutes and I walked it and finished at just under an hour!

I had screws taken out of my ankle this year and as of yet, do not notice a difference.

I opened an Etsy shop this year and sold my first item!

I am so excited to tell you that my 4 year old granddaughter who has Aspergers Syndrome is beginning to talk more and more clearly. The other day she called me and asked me to send her another Hello Kitty book and I understood what she asked for! I cried!!

Here is wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a great 2014!
